Holly Mitten
Holly’s career begin in the early 1980’s with a focus on three day eventing. In 1984, Holly was awarded the Harry T Peters trophy for winning the National Young Riders Championships. Holly also received the prestigious Lionel Guerrand Hermes award, given to a young rider who exemplifies the USET Foundation’s ideals of sportsmanship and horsemanship. Recent award winners include Brianne Goutal (2005) and Hillary Dobbs (2008).
From 1987-89, Holly trained at the USET three day training center in Hamilton, Massachusetts with renowned trainer, Jack LeGeoff, the US Eventing Team coach from 1970 until 1984. In 1990, she was long listed for the World Equestrian Games. In 1991, Holly shifted her focus to show jumping and by 1993 was jumping Grand Prix courses under the guidance of George Morris at Hunterdon. Throughout the 1990’s Holly trained with and rode for both George Morris and Anne Kursinski, bringing along several horses to the Grand Prix level.
